Erasmus and Teacher Training is the EU’s programme offered by Atlas Language School to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

About

Key Action 1 of the Erasmus and Teacher Training course from Atlas Language School is all about providing opportunities for individuals to improve their skills, enhance their employability and gain cultural awareness.

Erasmus+ Teacher Training Courses at Atlas Language School

Atlas Language School is an approved training centre for the ACELS / QQI Certificate in English Language Teaching (CELT). We have a team of DELTA-qualified, experienced and motivated ELT teacher trainers.

They are not only practising teachers of English, but also experienced in using up-to-date, innovative methods at all levels of language learning. Our team of teachers are advocates of regularly bringing Irish life and culture into the ELT classroom, as well as developing ideas that use the city as the classroom.

Programme Structure

Methodology:
  • The input sessions are a blend of theory and practice based on the CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) methodology alongside other methodologies that could be used in a CLIL syllabus. We will use a mix of presentation and demonstration of practical teaching activities with both in-house developed and exploited materials.
  • As the course progresses, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own CLIL practices and how they can integrate the new or refreshed techniques and ideas into their classes.
  • During the 2 weeks, they will also take part in afternoon activities in which they are encouraged to develop their language skills in a more informal environment outside the classroom and further enhance their knowledge of Dublin and Ireland.

Audience

This CLIL Course is a two-week course consisting of 20 contact hours per week plus an extensive cultural and social programme which allows you to enjoy Dublin city while you study. While there is a distinct focus on exploring CLIL principles and techniques in the classroom, the course also involves a significant element of English language improvement and a focus on developing language awareness.
