ECS Scotland

ECS Scotland is an independent and family-run, British Council accredited English language training centre based in the heart of Edinburgh. The school offers small group General, Business and Specific English courses to adults from all over the world. Courses are taught in small groups with a maximum of 5 students or 1-to-1. Courses are available to start any Monday and finish any Friday.

Small groups

Small group General English courses at ECS Scotland have a maximum of 5 students per group. Small groups enable you to participate and get the most out of each lesson.

Great focus is placed on vocabulary building and speaking & listening communication fluency with other skills covered as necessary for each group. Many of our clients have studied English before but cannot effectively use their knowledge, our aim is to help you to activate your existing knowledge and to expand your skills and fluency in English.

Experienced teachers

All teachers at ECS Scotland are native English speakers with a university degree and have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language to professional adults.

ECS Scotland does not use set coursebooks but uses both genuine English language content (newspapers, video, radio) and material especially for learners of English. The curriculum is topic based and follows the CEFL (Common European Framework for Languages). Students are encouraged to discuss topics of interest and requests with their teachers. We believe you learn more if you are interested in what you are learning.

Friendly learning atmosphere

As a small school, we offer a personal and friendly English language learning experience. Our objective is to make all our clients feel at ease so they can communicate in English more effectively. Whether you need English for work, study or pleasure, ECS Scotland aims to help you achieve your potential. Coffee breaks are taken togoether so can practise English communication in a relaxed and natural setting, tea and coffee is provided by the school.

Each course includes one afternoon excursion per week to a place of cultural interest. This is an extra opportunity to practise your English as well as see some of Scotland's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
