Between October and March, you will find a varied programme of music on campus including orchestral concerts, chamber music, jazz, world music, opera and new music. Lancaster students enjoy a vast green-field site with wonderful views of mountains and sea, yet the campus is just 5 minutes' drive from the M6 motorway and ten minutes from the main West Coast railway with direct services to Manchester, London and Scotland.
The Library has been designed to provide a high quality, serious academic study environment. There is a wide choice of space for individual study, and all workspaces are equipped with power for personal devices.
Eduroam enables students, researchers and staff from Lancaster University or other participating institutions to get a secure wi-fi connection on a computer, smartphone or other portable device, across campus and when visiting other universities.
The campus has its own medical practice, dental surgery and pharmacy. There are also a number of natural health care practitioners based in the Chaplaincy Centre.
As part of our travel plan we have one of the most frequent university bus services in the country, one of the highest employee cycling rates in Lancashire (a traffic-free cycle route links the campus to the outskirts of the city) and our own car sharing scheme.
The University has just invested in a brand new £20m sports centre on campus, with facilities including a 100 station fitness suite, a 25 metre 8 lane swimming pool, and an 8.5 metre climbing wall and bouldering cave designed with input from renowned mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington.
Within our 360 acres of campus we have plenty of space for a quick game of tennis, the inter-college rugby tournament, or just a stroll along our Woodland Trail.
