Founded on Oct. 13, 1885, the Georgia School of Technology opened its doors in October 1888 to 84 students.
The School’s creation signaled the beginning of the transformation of the agrarian South to an industrial economy.
During its first 50 years, Tech grew from a narrowly focused trade school to a regionally recognized technological university.

As Residence Life, we commit to the creation of environments in alignment with the Institute's values by facilitating purposeful opportunities for residents to live, learn, work, and play. Such environments, and their activities, will motivate students to serve as Georgia Tech leaders in society.
We are re-defining the research library of the 21st Century. creating an environment where scholars can access the vast digital cloud of humanity’s recorded knowledge.
Visitors have access to all resources, including the Catalog, databases, and eJournals, except where licenses prohibit walk-in visitor access. Access is for academic, non-commercial research purposes only.
Stamps Health Services provides numerous clinical services, including on-site laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services. All providers are board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants experienced in the treatment of college-age students. Our physicians are trained in internal medicine, family practice and emergency medicine.
Georgia Tech’s main campus spans 400 wooded acres in the heart of Atlanta. The campus is a comfortable, yet stimulating living and learning environment, with virtually every amenity close at hand.
Intramural teams and club sports, plus our award-winning Campus Recreation Center, make it easy for all students to find opportunities for competitive fun and personal fitness. Georgia Tech also has one of the best outdoor recreation programs in the country, with year-round excursions near and far.
A big part of student life at Georgia Tech is what goes on outside the classroom, so you'll have plenty of company in pursuing your passions and interests.
