Suffolk University grew from humble beginnings in the Roxbury parlor of Gleason L. Archer, a young lawyer who had worked his way through high school and college. A chance meeting brought the young graduate together with a benefactor who loaned him money to pursue the study of law, asking only that Archer pass along the favor.

As you start your academic journey, you’ll find a supportive network of faculty, staff, and classmates ready to help you succeed. We let you chart the course your education takes, from traditional classes enriched by real-world experiences to research projects, study abroad, internships, and more.

Suffolk University has a strong reputation for supporting both basic and applied research. We foster interdisciplinary research and scholarship that transcends traditional boundaries. And we encourage the advancement of scholarly pursuits that enrich our local community; promote national and international understanding; discourage injustice by promoting civil rights; and expand the boundaries of science.
