History

Founded in 1895 and a university since 1966, Aston is a long-established, research-led university known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry, government and commerce.

On Aston Futures, we advertise over 15,000 roles every year with employers actively looking to recruit Aston students and graduates. Once you register for your graduate account, as well as searching for job vacancies, you can find details of careers events and keep up to date with our careers newsletters.

Registering for a graduate account on Aston Futures will also allow you to book an appointment with a careers consultant. We know you may be anywhere in the world once you graduate so you can book Skype or telephone appointments if this is more convenient for you.

Remember to register for your graduate account using your personal email address as your Aston email will expire 3 months after graduating.

Housing services

Providing you fulfil the criteria of the allocation policy, from Mid-April, new students will receive a room offer booking once they receive an Unconditional course offer which has been accepted with the University. During our main intake we will be very busy, so we aim to send all guaranteed room offer bookings within a three week period assuming you fulfil the guarantee for first year students. You will be contacted by Unite Students to complete an application form and make an advance payment of £250.Returning students must deal directly with Unite Students for a room on Campus. Returning students are housed in Harriet Martineau or Lakeside.

Library services

  • A well equipped, refurbished Library open seven days a week (and 24 hours a day during key periods!)

  • Aston Publications Explorer is the University's Open Access institutional repository for research publications and theses - it helps to maximize the visibility and impact of the research done at Aston.   

ICT services

There are laboratories on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Main Building that contain dual-boot PCs. Our laboratories provide an environment for experimentation and research in many areas.You will also have access to other extensive facilities provided centrally by the University. All of our dedicated computing laboratories are open to our students 24 hours a day.

Campus life

Our self-contained campus gives Aston University students the best of both worlds: a green, well-equipped, friendly campus in the heart of a vibrant city.

All our social, support and academic facilities are based on campus, so you never have far to go. Aston University is less than five minutes walk from Birmingham city centre and its many shops, restaurants, galleries, theatres, cinemas, pubs and clubs.

Sports facilities

  • Great sports facilities, including two large sports halls, a 100 station gym, 25m swimming pool, large aerobics room, squash courts and all-weather floodlit sports pitches.
