The University has a vibrant Research culture across its six colleges, with nine University Research Centres and the University Innovation Insights Hub.

Our graduates can be found throughout the creative and cultural sectors and on shortlists for awards ranging from the Turner Prize to the Oscars. 95% of recent graduates are undertaking further study or working, with over a quarter working freelance or running their own business.

Careers and Employability at UAL exists to help students and graduates make a living doing what they love. Our Careers and Employability team can equip you with the skills to develop your practice, business and employment prospects. Services and activities include a range of workshops, networking events and work opportunities.


Student services

Student Services at University of the Arts London includes the Student Advice Service, the Counselling, Health Advice and Chaplaincy service and the Disability Service.

Student Services staff provide a professional, confidential, and free service to UAL students and also, where appropriate, to prospective students from the UK or abroad who are considering applying for courses at the University. Staff are based at each of the main College sites, and at the central office building in Holborn.

Housing services

Whether you choose to live in one of the University's halls of residence or in a privately-rented home, Accommodation Services can provide information and advice to help you find a suitable place to live.

The University's halls of residence are available to students who have an offer for a place on a course at the University. When you apply you’ll be encouraged to pick five hall preferences, as that will give us a better indicator as to what your preferred choices are.

Library services

In our libraries you can access outstanding collections in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts. You can also make full use of our study spaces, technology and academic support. There is a library in each of our Colleges with staff who are happy to help you make the most of our resources.

ICT services

The University IT Services provide IT systems and support to the UAL community, including help and support for:

  • MyUAL, the official app for students at University of the Arts London

  • Wifi and Eduroam.

Medical services

The Health Advice Service provides advice and information to students at University of the Arts London on registering with a doctor (GP) in the UK and about any other aspect of health and well-being.

Advice is available for students who have questions or concerns about:

  • lifestyle (including alcohol, drugs and smoking)
  • healthy eating
  • physical wellbeing
  • infectious diseases
  • sexual health 
  • mental health

Student Life

Campus life

London is an integral part of the UAL identity – it defines, inspires and challenges us and is central to the experience of studying with us.

Our Colleges and halls of residence are spread across London, meaning you can get absorbed in the unrivalled range of activities available in the capital. As a student, you can access the libraries, Learning Zones, cafes, shops and galleries at any of UAL’s College sites, as long as you show your ID card.

We have eight art shops across our sites, selling a broad range of art, design and fashion materials. The shops are stocked in consultation with course leaders and sell products according to the courses being taught at each site.

Student clubs

University of the Arts London Students’ Union is an arts union for arts students. When you join UAL you automatically become part of the Students’ Union. 

During your time at UAL, the Arts SU is the place to find other students, learn new skills, have fun and become who you plan to be. 

The Union is there to help make your time at UAL better, whether you need advice about your course, you want to play sports or join societies, or you just want to meet other people at UAL.
