About

History

Founded as Constantine College, our institution was officially opened by the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, on 2 July 1930. The University has grown significantly in recent years. We have invested over £270m in our town centre campus, and are undertaking a further £300m of developments in the campus over the next ten years.

Research

Teesside University Research addresses complex, multi and inter-disciplinary through to highly focused discipline based research. Across five thematic areas, our Grand Challenges have adopted a collaborative and multifaceted approach which enables our research to cross traditional discipline boundaries and help address some of the biggest national and global 'Grand Challenges' society faces.

We guarantee to help international students who apply before 1 September of the year they start with affordable student housing close to the University.

ICT services

Enjoy technology that meets your needs, from Macs for high-end design to hi-tech workstations for complex visualisation and software development, and over 2,700 workstations on campus. 

Medical services

Student Centre, on campus, provides a full range of individual support services and advice. Healthcare providers are a short walk from campus and you can register with a local doctor at our orientation event.

Our campus is located in a multicultural town centre, with University buildings, accommodation and facilities within walking distance. We have invested over £270m   to create new, modern teaching facilities, and a safe and friendly place for you to focus on your study.

We are investing an additional £300m to further enhance the experience of students, staff and partners. 

Our Welcome & Orientation event will provide you with essential and useful information to help you settle into university life and familiarize yourself with the campus. The event forms a valuable part of the student experience.

Sports facilities

We have superb facilities for sport and wellbeing on campus and nearby. Our Olympia building houses top-of-the-range sport and exercise labs, a temperature-controlled environmental chamber, 500-spectator sports hall for major tournaments, floodlit artificial turf pitch and a climbing wall. The £2.75m health and fitness suite includes the latest cardiovascular and resistance fitness equipment, free weights areas, a sprint track, multi-purpose studios, sauna and a specialist treatment area. 

Student clubs

Joining a club or society will help students to make friends quickly, meeting people from different parts of the UK and from around the world with similar interests and sharing new experiences together.
