ELCI Albany is located in the small town of Albany, on the campus of Linn-Benton Community College. Students at ELCI Albany have the opportunity to enter into the Oregon University System by attending LBCC and then transferring to their school of choice.
Albany itself is a beautiful city located in the Willamette Valley where the Calapooia River and the Willamette River meet. It has a population of about 52,000. The city was founded around 1848, and not it is predominantly a farming and hi-tech manufacturing city. It is a safe and friendly place to live and study.
The Intensive English Program is an academic program that is made for students who want to improve their English quickly to enter American high schools, universities, or to pass international English proficiency tests such as IELTS or TOEFL. In the free one-on-one tutoring session every week, our professional teachers will make sure you’re on the right track.
The Super Summer Flex Program is a summer study tour program that is perfect for students who would like a combination of conversational English and fun activities for maximum learning! During the week, students spend almost every morning in the classroom and every afternoon participating in fun activities outside. Lots of learning, talking, and fun!
English preparation programmes
ELCI students not only receive the college student ID card, they also have full access to all the college resources, including the Learning Center, the library, computer lab, and gymnasium.
University Admissions Options after ELCI
Students can transfer from ELCI to Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC) and then on to a four-year university in the United States to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
To enter Linn-Benton Community College, students must score 475 on the paper-based TOEFL and get a director's recommendation, and maintain a 3.0 GPA & 80% attendance at ELCI.
During a homestay, students live with an American family. This experience can help you learn English, and give you a better view into American culture. We choose our homestay families carefully and the homestay fee includes insurance and at least two meals a day.
If you wish to live independently or live with your friends, apartments are available close to both ELCI centers.
ELCI arranges weekly activities for our students. These activities increase the opportunities for our students to use the English they learn in class, and also to better understand American culture! Activities include:
Cultural- Independence Day Parade, Dallas Summer Fest, County Fair, Christmas Tree Lighting, Museums, Portland Saturday Market, etc.
Community- Culture Fair at the Library, Cultural exchange at the Senior Center, Christmas Toys for Tots, etc.
Outdoor- Oregon Coast, Smith Rock, Hoodoo Snow Park Tubing & Skiing, Mt. Hood Skiing, Crater Lake, Silver Falls Hiking, Mulnotmah Falls, Hot Air Balloon Festival, Go Karts, Portland Zoo, etc.
Sports- Portland Blazer’s Game, Monmouth Fitness Club Group Classes, Swimming at Kroc Center, Soccer, Basketball, Mini Golf, etc.
