About Location

Loxdale is located in Portslade which is a residential suburb of Brighton & Hove. The School is just a 20 minute bus journey from the centre of Brighton, one of Britain’s most vibrant, exciting and culturally diverse cities in the UK for students.

The school actively encourages critical study while nurturing tolerance and respect for all people, cultures and ideas. Students get many opportunities of influencing different components of the course – from social activities to the syllabus.

Loxdale is committed to provide a stimulating learning environment based on co-operation and active participation that will empower students of all ages and social backgrounds to reach their full potential.

Teaching Method

The lively and interactive programmes are designed for students who wish to improve their ability to communicate in English in the company of like-minded people from around the world, whilst also enjoying the experience of learning in Brighton, one of the UK’s most vibrant and culturally diverse cities.

Study English with other subjects to make the most of your time in England. The English Plus course is an opportunity of combining General English with a diverse range of subjects with something to suit most tastes. Courses include: art, gardening, fashion, drama, history, screen-printing, photography, environmental studies, media, British culture and creative English.

The School is housed in a beautiful, traditional English Victorian mansion and is surrounded by large gardens and trees. The school has superior on-site facilities including 16 classrooms, a library, a self-study room with timetabled teacher led sessions, free wi-fi, computer room, a dining room providing hot food, snacks and drinks, a sports hall, table tennis room, large gardens and 3 pianos.

There is also a student social room that is open each day and most evenings where students can relax, socialise, play sports, watch films, play on the Wii or Play Station 3, study and cook.

It is not just the high academic standards that set us apart. When you arrive, you will be allocated a personal tutor who will be there to support and guide you throughout your studies.

Loxdale has great transport links via both bus and train and is just one hour away from central London by train. All host families are regularly visited and are on regular bus routes within a 25 minute walk of the School.

Social Programme

Loxdale English Centre believes social activities are very important in continuing the students’ learning and taking it beyond the classroom environment:

  • The school has a dedicated Social Programme Manager who is your main contact for activities

  • Loxdale offers an extensive social programme of afternoon and evening activities and includes lots of free activities such as quizzes, film nights, arts and crafts and sports
  • The programme encourages full integration as staff, including the teachers, get involved in the activities

  • Activities and visits in the local area and trips to cities such as London, Cambridge, Oxford and Salisbury
